Named after a Penang street famous for hawker delicacies, Gurney Drive established its first Singapore outlet at Suntec City in 2011. Despite closing just four years later, it is now making a comeback with five mouthwatering delicacies.
A Penang favourite revered for being comfort food, the Braised Pork Rice sees tender pork belly simmered in a dark soy sauce stew, and aromatically enhanced with dry chili, star anise, cinnamon and rock sugar. It is served together with pearl rice, braised hard-boiled egg and cai xin.
Next up, the Assam Curry Fish Head is broiled in curry, along with eggplant, long beans, ladies’ fingers and cabbage until the meat becomes supple.
The Beef Rendang Nasi Lemak sports fragrant coconut rice with succulent beef rendang cubes brewed in rendang sauce, finished off with ikan bilis, sambal chili, achar and omelette egg.
Side snacks include the deep-fried Penang Lor Bak wrap, containing minced chicken encased in homemade beancurd skin served with an original-made sweet sauce and chili sauce, and the Fish Skin Rojak dips crunchy fish skin chips in trademark Penang rojak sauce, topped off with chili sauce, crushed peanuts and sesame seeds.
